About this Site

Creating a webpage involves many steps. This is the way we took on the job.

Microsoft FrontPage 98 was chosen to create the site with. The interaction design was developed and blank pages were created. With the pages made we had to get something in them. A background was chosen and put in place.

Drawn images and photographs were scanned in. These images were then stretched, warped, re-coloured or totally manipulated using Microsoft Image Composer 1.0. and Microsoft Photo Editor. Other images were sought after on the Internet - and were manipulated to fit in with the site.

A standard style was developed and was implemented throughout the whole site. Different backgrounds were used for the pages that were not about the skatepark but about the procedures of making a website. Shared borders were used for the contents on the left; which were automatically placed on every page. Headings were standardised to font Challenge Extra Bold, size B3.

A welcome page was added. An image was positioned in the middle and a hyperlink to the home page. Meta tags were inserted to automtically advance to the home page after 20 counts if the hyperlink was not yet activated.

An e-mail was sent to Eurobodalla Shire Council to obtain any information that they might have. We promptly received some great information.

Written information was typed in and adjusted to fit.

The images were found to be to large and for people with slower Internet connections - this could be a major deterant. Smaller copies of the images were made and put in the html files and linked to the larger originals.

The skategame, along with many other games that are offered free to webmasters from Thingmaker, was put in. This simply involved saving a .tms file and pasting in a couple of lines of html.

Initially we did not have access to a local server and Fortune City was chosen for having a largest amount of diskspace (10MG) available at no cost and few advertisements but in the last weeks before the closing date of the Australian Schools Web Competition a local host was found. Batemans Bay Internet (BBI) offered us ulimited space which was gratefully accepted.
