Press Release Update 4 March 1996

The park has been in use by the youth of Moruya and district since early December and has proven to be a huge success providing the youth with a much needed facility to entertain them.
The park gained some additional features during the construction period, due to positive input by the Skillshare crew and the skateboard riders.
Several different style jumps were added to the satisfaction of all concerned.
A large 400watt street light was provided by Intergral Energy (formally ICC) at a reduced cost enabling the facility to be used at any time.

Funding for this project was achieved as follows:

ESC Sec94 contributions $7500
NSW State grant $7500 (requested $10 000)
Eurobodalla Skaters $700 (raffles)
Moruya Apex Club $100
Moruya Market Committee $500
Gundary Oval Committee $1300 (fundraising incl. $300 from Moruya Rotary)

Skillshare labour estimated cost between $30 000 to $40 000. 13 long term unemployed and supervisor over a 4 month period.

To complete the half basketball court, Council was approached for an additional $3500. This was approved on 20th February 1996.

Total funding for the project $21 100
Total cost when completed $23 500
The short fall will have to be covered by further fundraising of by the Gundary Oval Management Committee.

Total estimated cost including Skillshare, all free labour, soil, discounted materials (concrete & steel) etc. puts it around $70 000

The Skillshare crew will be back on site from 11th March until 30th March to complete the basketball court and the landscaping.
The official opening is planned for Tuesday 2nd April 3:30pm by the Mayor CR Chris Vardon and Russel Smith MP.
